What was Spain's desire for exploration?

I already know the basic stuff like they wanted to look for gold, and more land and all that, but I really need more then that. I'm doin a report and I'm going to but up more question about some other stuff I can't find. But if you could help me out on this I would really like that. THANKS! xox <3
